The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
