The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
