The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
