The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
