The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
