Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
