Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And by the begetter (i.e. Adam) and that which he begot (i.e. his progeny); 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
