The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 and by the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
