The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
