The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
