And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Poets (Alshu'araa'). Sent down in Mecca after The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah) before The Ant (Al-Naml)
