Joseph (Yousuf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif-Lam-Ra*; these are verses of the clear Book. (* Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 We have sent it down as a clear discourse that you may understand. 2 We relate to you the best narrative because We have sent the divine revelation of this Qur’an, to you; although surely you were unaware before this. 3 (Remember) when Yusuf (Joseph) said to his father: "O my father! Verily, I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves to me." 4 He said: O my son! do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they devise a plan against you; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man. 5 Thus, your Lord will select you, teach you the interpretation of dreams, and grant His favors to you and the family of Jacob, just as He granted His favors to your fathers, Abraham and Isaac. Your Lord is certainly All-knowing and All-wise." 6
