At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
