۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs." 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
