I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 My verses were recited to you, but you turned upon your heels, 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 or you said that he is possessed by satan? In fact, he has brought you the truth, but most of you dislike it. 70 And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat. 77
