۞ Say those who look not to encounter Us, 'Why have the angels not been sent down on us, or why see we not our Lord?' Waxed proud they have within them, and become greatly disdainful. 21 The day they see the angels there will be no happy tidings for the sinners; and they will say: "There is an insurmountable barrier!" 22 We shall turn to their deeds and scatter them like particles of dust. 23 The dwellers of Paradise (i.e. those who deserved it through their Faith and righteousness) will, on that Day, have the best abode, and have the fairest of places for repose. 24 On that Day, the heaven is split asunder with clouds and the angels are sent down in majesty, 25 the Kingdom that day, the true Kingdom, shall belong to the All-merciful and it shall be a day harsh for the unbelievers. 26 Upon the day the evildoer shall bite his hands, saying, 'Would that I had taken a way along with the Messenger! 27 O woe is me! would that I had not taken such a one for a friend! 28 "He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!" 29 And the Messenger will say, "O my Lord, my people had made this Qur'an the object of their ridicule." 30 For so it is that against every prophet We have set up enemies from among those who are lost in sin: yet none can guide and give succour as thy Sustainer does! 31 The unbelievers ask: 'Why was the Koran not sent down to him all at once' As such We strengthen your heart thereby, and We have recited it very distinctly. 32 And no example or similitude do they bring (to oppose or to find fault in you or in this Quran), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof. 33 (As for) those who shall be gathered upon their faces to hell, they are in a worse plight and straying farther away from the path. 34
