Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book whereof the verses are detailed; an Arabic Qur'an, for a people who know. 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
