The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
