And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
