So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 "There is not one of us who does not have his appointed place," (declare the angels.) 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
