Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

53 verses, revealed in Mecca after Elucidated (Fussilat) before Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

Ha Mim. 1 'Ain. Sin. Qaf. 2 Thus God, the Powerful, the Wise, sends revelation to you as He did to those before you. 3 To Him only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and all whatever is in the earth; and He is the Supreme, the Greatest. 4 The heavens wellnigh are rent above them, when the angels proclaim the praise of their Lord, and ask forgiveness for those on earth. Surely God -- He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate. 5 And those who take as protectors others besides Him,- Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs. 6 Thus We revealed to you, this Arabic Quran so that you may warn the mother of cities [Makkah] and those around it, and warn them of the Day of Gathering which is sure to come: when some group will be in the Garden, and some will be in the Fire. 7 And if Allah had willed, He could have made them one nation, but He admits whom He wills to His Mercy. And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) will have neither a Wali (protector) nor a helper. 8 Or have they taken to themselves guardians other than Him? But Allah, He is the Guardian. He revives the dead and has power over all things. 9
