And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. 42 And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the steadfast heart of things. 43
