The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 Even so do we let it creep into the hearts of the sinners - 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
