The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
