And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful. 9 And if We let him taste favour after harm hath touched him, he saith: the ills have departed from me; verily he becometh elated, boastful. 10 Not so those who are patient and do good deeds. They shall have forgiveness and a great reward. 11 A likely thing, that thou wouldst forsake aught of that which hath been revealed unto thee, and that thy breast should be straitened for it, because they say: Why hath not a treasure been sent down for him, or an angel come with him? Thou art but a warner, and Allah is in charge of all things. 12 If they say, "He has invented it himself." Say, "If you are truthful, produce ten invented chapters like it, and call on whom you can besides God, to help you." 13 If they do not answer you, then know it has been revealed with the knowledge of God, and that there is no god but He. (And say:) "Will you now submit?" 14 Those who desire the life of the present and its glitter,- to them we shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein,- without diminution. 15 These are the people who, in the world to come, shall have nothing but Hellfire and all that they used to do shall be in vain. 16 Is he (to be counted equal with them) who relieth on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him reciteth it, and before it was the Book of Moses, an example and a mercy? Such believe therein, and whoso disbelieveth therein of the clans, the Fire is his appointed place. So be not thou in doubt concerning it. Lo! it is the Truth from thy Lord; but most of mankind believe not. 17 And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers. 18 Who averted [people] from the way of Allah and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they, concerning the Hereafter, were disbelievers. 19 These shall not escape in the earth, nor shall they have any guardians besides Allah; the punishment shall be doubled for them, they could not bear to hear and they did not see. 20 They caused utter loss to themselves, and all that they had invented failed them. 21 Undoubtedly they will be losers in the life to come. 22 As for those who believed and acted righteously and dedicated themselves totally to their Lord -they are the people of Paradise, and there they shall abide forever. 23 ۞ The likeness of the two parties is as the man blind and deaf, and the man who sees and hears; are they equal in likeness? Will you not remember? 24
