(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters." 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing! 36 Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 Extol His glory at night, and at the setting of the stars. 49
