The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
