Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
