The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
