The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
