The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
