By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 a warning to humankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 About the guilty: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
