The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
