The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
