The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
