The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
