The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
