The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And no trifle. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
