Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
