The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
