The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
