Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
