The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
