The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
