Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And they will say, “Is there any one any magician?” 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
