So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
