The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
