Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the daybreak, 1 and ten nights, 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And the night when it departs. 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And the tribe of Thamud, who hewed rocks in the valley. 9 And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 And ye love wealth with inordinate love! 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, 22 On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him. 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 O the contented soul! 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 Enter thou My Garden! 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
