The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 there is none to avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
