He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
